Our Story

Dear Friends,

In 2013 our family set out to bring craft beer to Breckenridge, Colorado. On January 4th, 2014 we opened the doors to the first craft beer focused taphouse in Breck and for a decade we brought the best craft beer and handcrafted libations to Summit County, Colorado! Over the years we were honored to showcase an extensive collection of small-batch and craft whiskeys which helped fuel our passion for supporting other small businesses as many of these spirits were made locally. During our time in Breckenridge we crafted award winning cocktails from scratch using the finest craft spirits, house-made syrups, hand squeezed juices and our very own Après Handcrafted Bitters!

Over the years we saw our share of ups and downs like any small business. Breckenridge is a unique tourist Town for doing business and presented its own challenges and opportunities. Unfortunately in 2020 the Pandemic hit and forced us to navigate one of the hardest seasons small businesses in America have ever seen. Like everyone, we made difficult choices, we suffered greatly but with a fantastic team of bartenders we persevered! In 2021, however, tensions began to rise with one of our business partnerships during the return to normal business operations, and in 2023 ultimately resulted in Après being forcibly displaced from our brick and mortar space. It is devastating to write that September 30th 2023 was our last day of serving in person libations in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Thank you dear friends it truly was  an honor to serve our community and provide Breckenridge with our dream of a public house serving the best in handcrafted libations. Thank you for 10 years of unwavering support and love!!

The displacement was truly heartbreaking for our family but time has been and will continue to be the best medicine. Since 2023 a lot has changed, as a family we have relocated to Red Wing, Minnesota, a beautiful river community south east of the Twin Cities along the mighty Mississippi! Feeling more at home than we have in a long time, we're putting down new roots and opening a new bar and restaurant concept! While we are very excited to announce this next chapter we are sad to say it won’t be a new outpost of Après Handcrafted Libations. Don't worry though, this is NOT THE END OF APRES but a new beginning! While a new physical location of Après is not the next chapter for our family we will continue to bring you content about the best in handcrafted libations!! One day we will get to that chapter and open a new ski country location of Après but for now we hope you’ll support this chapter, Otto’s Public House, a community focused public house serving the best innovative flavors! Our new location may not share the Après name but it will still share the core of who we are and how we do business. Our new project will also give us the opportunity to resume bitters production which means new stock and flavors of Après Handcrafted Bitters are coming soon!
